Student Transportation
Dozens of buses, hundreds of students — a flawless route plan every morning
For students to reach school safely and on time, vitaRoute's RL-powered algorithm considers home addresses, school schedules, and capacity constraints together to generate the most efficient bus routes.
Real-World Scenario
7:00 AM — 1,200 Students Across Istanbul
Situation
A private school must transport 1,200 students from 8 different districts of Istanbul to school by 8:30 AM every morning. 42 service vehicles, variable traffic conditions, and parent-designated pickup points make this process extremely complex.
Problem
The old system relied on manual planning. A coordinator spent hours preparing each driver's route. Incorrect clustering meant some vehicles ran nearly empty while others were overfull. Students averaged 68 minutes in transit.
vitaRoute Solution
The addresses of 1,200 students and 42 vehicle capacities were submitted to the vitaRoute API. The RL-SBRP algorithm optimized district-based clustering, walking distance constraints, and vehicle capacity — generating 38 active routes, leaving 4 vehicles in reserve.
Sonuç
Average travel time dropped from 68 to 41 minutes. Fuel costs decreased by 23%. Route planning time fell from 6 hours to 4 minutes.
